Decades/Peter collects two related sets of recordings, two concepts that play off of one another. Peter is a more open-ended set, written in memory of a former collaborator and particularly tinted by Rostami's childhood love of video games. Decades was made as a deliberate antithesis. Peter croons with vocals and strings, while Decades grinds and falls apart in ambiance and static.

Pulling inspiration from the 'interlocking communities and climates' of his greater surroundings, Aria crafts visceral, IDM-touched productions like the astral 'Ankou,' a cut from his hypnagogic Decades/Peter LP for Crash Symbols (available now on Bandcamp). The track rushes in with ambient field recordings and aquatic soundscapes before giving way to a heavy sub frequencies. "...essentially a single artist split release. The front half, Decades, delivers a wonderfully executed mix of dark, alien beat music. Seven tracks that swing like a pendulum from crisply produced and richly populated danceable percussion, to massive swaths of melodic mood music. What struck me as quite fantastic here is the assemblage of robust confident timbres and beefy production. Individual sounds twist and evolve into big, bold, complex synth brought right up front in the mix. On the flip, Peter, the production delves into lush pop tinged dreamlike dance tracks. Joyous vacationalia made challenging with glitchy percussion and echoing pitch shifted vocals.
