about

Recorded sporadically between 2016 and 2018 without his typical studio , Al Lover's Existential Everything continues a thread of colorful but meditative inner journeys. What he playfully calls, "music to be introspective in public to." Though the arc began with anxious spirals of dubbed-out psych atmospheres, it does find some resolution on Existential Everything.

The sound is still varied though, with a dynamic flow -- inflected as much by Al's exposure to kosmische as experimental trap. While Interference Patterns was relatively short, focused, and tense, Existential Everything is sprawling and relaxed. The segue amounts to a long, rich comedown after a dark but engrossing head-trip.

"...strange little sonic worlds, self-contained, and defying ready comparison to just about anyone . . . You can feel the patience applied in each eerie soundscape, in its more trap and ambient moments alike, giving off the feeling of something at once familiar and alien, like some twisted crossover of The Twilight Zone and Star Trek, Picard and co. vying to outwit an unforgiving Rod Serling, with the listener in between, trapped somewhere inside the bizarre soundtrack that resulted." -The 405

"The producer has spent the last several years evolving a unique approach to psychedelic and experimental electronic music. He’s broken down what some might say is trip hop and uses a mix of samples, drum machines, live instrumentation, analog synths, and effect processing to draw out elements from the past and connect them to the future." -Bad Luck Magazine

"A mesmerizing combination of vintage callbacks and modern innovation." -Ruix Zine

"What would the psych scene be without Al Lover ?" -Reverb is For Lovers

"The juxtaposition of sounds is a talent Al Lover is extremely deft at. Grooved out rhythms under the glowing sparks of blurred energy." -Lost in a Sea of Sound
